Historical Introductions to the Readings:

bibleandcandle1st Reading: The middle part of the book of the prophet Isaiah contains four poems that we now call the songs of the suffering servant. Here, the profit meditates on the sufferings and the price of fidelity to God. The church turns to these poems at this time, because Jesus apparently did so at the time of his got passion.
2nd Reading:
Saint Paul here adapts an ancient church hymn. It sings of Jesus' pre-existence, his incarnation, suffering, and exultation.

Pastoral Plan Lenten Video Series:

Pastoral Plan logoParish Mission: Thank you!
Lively discussions and great insights were shared at the Parish Mission this past week.
We want to extend our thanks to all who attended and expressed their ideas about following Christ in today's world and a future Pastoral Plan for our Parish.
We want to thank each and every individual who contributed to making this Parish Mission possible: Parish staff, Parish Council members, musicians, those who provided behind-the-seems and onsite technology assistance, facilitators, all who helped promote the event, our comment recorder, refreshment providers, committee members and of course, our Pastor, Father Patrick Cosgrove.
Watch for reports of the proceedings in this space and in the Bulletin.

Development and Peace:

DevPeace 2015 logoSowing seeds of love through 15,200 projects and partnerships.
We have to state, without mincing words, that there is an inseparable bond between our faith and the poor. May we never abandon them.
– Pope Francis, 'The Joy of the Gospel,' 48.
The Share Lent collection is taken on March 29.
